Jack's Chain
It's a top!
It measures about 82 x 87
I need to even up the sides but I'm satisfied with this size.
I used a variety of neutrals as well as some dark cornered 3 inch (finished) nine patches. Most of the nine patches came from years of swapping the little cuties.
It will be hand quilted at some later date.
I rarely make the same pattern twice but this is my second Jack's Chain quilt. The other one was smaller and more colorful with a navy blue background. I finished it in 2016 and here's a link to that blog post in case you are interested in a different version of Jack's Chain. And I'm thinking someday there may be a third Jack's Chain.
love it...very nice scrappy
ReplyDeleteI started one years ago; it's still on my wannadosomeday list. The final assembly seems so daunting. I'll check to see the Quilter's Cache pattern to see if that method is any easier. Both of yours are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI checked out your first Jack’s Chain! They are both wonderful! It is amazing how the different fabrics make such a change in look of the pattern!
ReplyDeleteBoth of your Jack's Chain quilts are wonderful. I think I like the navy blue background the most as it makes the rest glow. (shine?) Great top finish. Hand quilting will take a while but should look fabulous on it.
ReplyDeleteGood one. On my to do list....
ReplyDeleteOh wow!! This one is SO cool!!! It looks very complicated tho!! Great job!!!!
ReplyDeleteAny tips? I love this pattern but haven’t taken the plunge.
ReplyDeleteAnother complicated design and it’s beautiful. I’m sure you will make a third one. I remember name Jack’s chain from when you made your first one which I’m now going to have another look at, following your link. Happy sewing😊
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! I love the rounded corners on your earlier version.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, that looks complicated with all those tiny blocks! It looks wonderful, well done.
ReplyDeleteThis is simply gorgeous--beautiful job on finishing! hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteAmazing the difference a background fabric makes! It's going to be stunning when it's done, Cathy.
ReplyDeleteReally neat design. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI remember when you pieced your other Jacks Chain because I added it to my someday list. I'm making a 3" finished 9 patch quilt right now and I've overestimated the number of 9 patches by several hundred! Maybe I'll get a start on this quilt this year. Thanks for the inspiration, happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm impressed! I started a Jack's chain and only made a little snippet (about 24" square) before I decided it required way too much precision and persistence. Yours looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMost of your quilts remind me of the song about the ant and the rubber tree plant! Woops! There goes another rubber tree plant! You just keep moving those tiny pieces of fabric until you have another beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved Jack's Chain quilts. I remember the blue one you made previously. Is it just the color difference or a different setting design for this one? This one looks much more complicated. I have been stalled on mine but I'm hoping to continue with it soon. I like the rounded corners on the blue one. This one is a good size. Do you have any idea how many 9-patches are in it?
ReplyDeleteBoth of your versions of Jack's Chain are terrific! My personal preference is for the blue one...I just think it is more bold. :) I admire that you tackle such a complicated pattern...at least, it seems complicated to me. Maybe I should try this one sometime. You do have a way of inspiring projects!
ReplyDeleteI remember when you shared this before, and I thought then I might try to make it some day. That day has not come yet, but maybe it will some day. I really love the pattern, and you did a great job with it! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteWowzers! Absolutely gorgeous! And inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI've been cutting pieces for my Jack's Chain - looks like I'd best get to sewing them together!
I love both versions. Thanks for the link to the navy one. I think this would be a fun hand-piecing project!
ReplyDeleteI'm SO glad I found your blog ! I'm working a pattern the has 2 1/2 " 4 patch blocks that sewn to a Rail Fence block. It's frustrating and I really need your help with making the small patches. You do the Postage Stamps quilts perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI really loved seeing your flower beds and veg 's. Please show us your Asparagus bed as it grows and is harvested. I've always wondered how to grow and take care of them.
