With Some Blue Scraps

With some blue 2 inch width scraps I made six Wedding Ring blocks that finish at 7.5 inches.
I now have 89 blocks and my target is 144.

And with some blue 2 inch width of scraps plus a few other colors of scraps I made eight Sixteen Patch blocks that finish at 6 inches.  I've been making these for a couple of years and now have 91 blocks out of a target of 130.

  1. Love both sets of blocks. The 16patch ones are very jolly. You are well on the way to your target for both sets of blocks, excellent.

  3. As Dory would say - "just keep stitching . . . just keep stitching . . . " It all adds up!

  4. I always like seeing your wedding ring blocks! Will you combine them with an alternate block or make a quilt with just those blocks?

You're well over halfway with both of these quilts - look at you go!

  9. I still love those wedding ring blocks. I swear that someday I’m going to pretend I’m a different Cathy and sew my rose prints into wedding ring blocks. Of course, I’ll probably cut off most of my HST points (because I’m so good at that), but it’s either that or die of salivation over yours.

  10. I have a dumb question: If you are working with a certain color scraps, how do you calculate how many squares you will need for a finish somewhere in the distant future? Yeah, I know, block size into how big you want it, but somehow I'd get lost along the way. You always seem to know right where you are on every project every day! You must have a big notebook! I guess that's why your quilts always finish up so lovely, and those blue ones will too. ---"Love"

  13. I shouldn't read the comments on your posts. Now I know from Cathy that it might be possible to die of salivation. Sounds rather gruesome. And I'm also curious, like "Love" is, how you keep track of your projects. A big notebook? Paper pinned to the piles of blocks? Perhaps you could do a post about that so we can all learn :)

  14. I love both sets of blocks, but I am wondering how you plan on setting those Wedding Ring blocks. As Louise said, it would be interesting to find out how you keep track of all of your projects. It seems like you must have decided ahead of time exactly how your blocks will be set, how big your quilt will be, etc. I never have that much planned out when I start a new quilt. I just kind of make decisions as I go.

  17. Blues always make great quilts IMO. I'm constantly amazed how many blocks you have in progress at once. You are a champ.
