Clowder Puff

Clowder Puff
44 x 58

I started making the cat blocks in December 2018 as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge project. I used a cat pattern I saw online but that link is now broken.  The blocks finish at 5 x 9.
I used scrap chunks in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color of the month and also used a variety of gray scraps for the backgrounds.
I thought it would make a nice donation quilt.
The backing is also gray with colorful triangles. The quilt is a weird width so I had to piece it and I had almost but not quite enough backing fabric. So I added in a small piece of solid gray.  I used a gray with black flowers for the binding.

I quilted some really big free motion flowers.

  6. I'm not usually a fan of cat quilts, but I absolutely LOVE this one!!! I'm not sure if it's the wonderful selection of scrap chunks that you used, the simplified design, or the moody gray background that I find SEW appealing. Congrats on another fabulous finish, Cathy!

  8. Another great quilt finish. You certainly are prolific. Funnily enough I have have been woken by a cat fight (3.30am) , I couldn’t get back to sleep so just reading your blog post, featuring your Cat Quilt. Very apt.

  9. Very colorful cats look striking against the gray and a little "70's" in the best sense - colorful and fun! It just makes me smile!

  10. I have got this pattern quilt on our bed at the moment! My cats are mostly grey with a pale pink background, with some blocks made by others as a friendship quilt, with me making a whole lot more blocks. I'm sure my pattern was called House Cats.
Yours looks wonderful, it is a great design for RSC sewing and makes a lovely donation quilt.

  21. Adorable! I love anything "kitty" so this is a true winner to me! Looks like it was probably a fun RSC quilt pattern. Too bad the link is broken ... bet I could figure it out for myself!
