Clowder Puff
44 x 58
I started making the cat blocks in December 2018 as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge project. I used a cat pattern I saw online but that link is now broken. The blocks finish at 5 x 9.
I used scrap chunks in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color of the month and also used a variety of gray scraps for the backgrounds.
I thought it would make a nice donation quilt.
The backing is also gray with colorful triangles. The quilt is a weird width so I had to piece it and I had almost but not quite enough backing fabric. So I added in a small piece of solid gray. I used a gray with black flowers for the binding.
I quilted some really big free motion flowers.
C U T E !! Nice finish, Cathy. On to the next one. You get SO MUCH DONE !
ReplyDeleteLove the variety of grays in the cat blocks! Great finish.
ReplyDeleteDarling. I have seen similar cat blocks in magazines. Yours is delightful.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure someone will love hugging those cute cats! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteThis quilt will be well loved, good job!
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually a fan of cat quilts, but I absolutely LOVE this one!!! I'm not sure if it's the wonderful selection of scrap chunks that you used, the simplified design, or the moody gray background that I find SEW appealing. Congrats on another fabulous finish, Cathy!
ReplyDeletePurrfectly precious! The block is really simple, but effective :)
ReplyDeleteAnother great quilt finish. You certainly are prolific. Funnily enough I have have been woken by a cat fight (3.30am) , I couldn’t get back to sleep so just reading your blog post, featuring your Cat Quilt. Very apt.
ReplyDeleteVery colorful cats look striking against the gray and a little "70's" in the best sense - colorful and fun! It just makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteI have got this pattern quilt on our bed at the moment! My cats are mostly grey with a pale pink background, with some blocks made by others as a friendship quilt, with me making a whole lot more blocks. I'm sure my pattern was called House Cats.
ReplyDeleteYours looks wonderful, it is a great design for RSC sewing and makes a lovely donation quilt.
It looks so snuggly. Someone is going to have a lifetime quilt. That will be their favorite!
ReplyDeleteI always liked grey backgrounds. This will make the purrfect donation quilt!
ReplyDeleteToo Cute!! Meow!!
ReplyDeleteAww! I love your pretty kitties!
ReplyDeleteYour colorful clowder is so cheerful! I've used that cat pattern several times--it's easy and a great scrapbuster.
ReplyDeletewhat a great way to showcase fabrics! LOve the kitties in flowers
ReplyDeleteFrom one Cat to another, that is a GREAT cat quilt!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this. I must go searching for a cat block or two I know I have made of this pattern..... and the squirrel is on the loose!
ReplyDeleteThese cats are so fun! Really awesome finish!
ReplyDeleteChowder Puff is one of the cutest cats quilts I’ve ever seen! Well done! Really like the binding too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful donation quilt this will be.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I love anything "kitty" so this is a true winner to me! Looks like it was probably a fun RSC quilt pattern. Too bad the link is broken ... bet I could figure it out for myself!
