My OMG (One Monthly Goal) for April was to complete 8 more Clarissa blocks. I've completed 11 blocks this month and I now have 24 blocks toward my total goal of 36 blocks. Inspired by a vintage quilt each block consists of 36 hourglasses (144 pieces cut from 1.5 inch strips). I work on these for at least 20 minutes each day. Continuing with 20 minutes per day maybe by the end of next month I will have all the blocks I need to start assembly. Hmmm...maybe I should decide on what I'm going to use for a sashing. Or maybe first I should decide how much yardage I will need for sashing. Let's see...2 inch finished sashing cut at 2.5 x 12.5...
Go ahead; do the math! It will probably save you some grief later on. I'm sure you'll find enough of something tucked away when you get all your blocks made, and you'll have another pretty quilt in no time! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteThese blocks look so pretty! Love how much variety can be achieved!
ReplyDeleteAlways a joy to see these pretty blocks. I'd do the math now. It helps me focus on what fabric(s) might work. What fun you are having with Clarissa.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you might calculate sashing the same way I do: "Hm, if I make it 2" wide, I'll need 2.75 yards. But I only have 2.5 yds of this perfect gray, so if I make the sashing 1 7/8" wide, does that work? Do I really want to cut a bazillion strips using eighths??" :)
ReplyDeleteClarissa made me smile, because that is the name of the most famous carp in English history - I can never hear it now without thinking of fish. Your blocks are very pretty though and not at all fishy.
ReplyDeleteI am loving these blocks. Lots of piecing though!! That's the thing about you, never afraid.:)
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks. Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and congrats on your finish.
ReplyDeleteI love your Clarissa blocks! (And mine is moving slower than yours considering I haven't even started mine yet...)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see your Clarissa blocks... they are marvellous, and so labour intensive to make!
