This week I worked with my orange 2 inch scraps.
I made these Wedding Ring (aka Single Wedding Ring or Odd Scraps Patchwork) blocks that finish at 7.5 inches. I started making these blocks last year.
I also started making these Sixteen Patch blocks last year. They finish at 6 inches.
I've been making these little Wonky Stars off and on over the years. They finish at 4.5 inches.
I use little waste triangles for the star points.
Then I made a few Little Houses from my 2 inch scraps. These finish at 3 inches.
Before I made the latest orange batch of houses I had 351 out of a target of 540 houses.
Then I was in Little House making mode and felt the urge to cut some 2 inch strips of 30s reproduction fabrics with little characters so I could make more houses. Now I have 399 out of a target of 540 Little Houses. And I added some scraps left over from making these houses to the 2 inch scrap bin.
But I didn't throw the orange scraps to the 2 inch scrap bin. Instead I made those into more Wedding Ring blocks and a Sixteen Patch.
Then I cut the remaining orange 2 inch scraps into 2 inch squares and if there wasn't enough for a square it was sewn into a strip for use in a Chinese Coin quilt at year end.
And next week I hope to show blocks made with my 2.5 inch scraps.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful array of blocks--love those little houses...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI love the little house blocks. So cute and lots of character.
ReplyDeleteI like those little house blocks - such a cute idea.
ReplyDeleteYou are always so prolific with your scraps. Sometimes I wonder how much scrap you have. Now I understand how you work. I think you have the best system for using up the scrap; you just don't let them gather dust. Awesome! ;^)
ReplyDeleteWow, you really make good use of your scraps! Love those single wedding rings. You could almost do a whole orange quilt already! Cute houses, too.
ReplyDeleteI am inspired every time I visit - great scraps
ReplyDeleteI especially like the single wedding ring blocks with all those HSTs (they get me every time). 540 little houses - wow. It's going to be a fabulously colorful neighborhood!!
ReplyDeleteYour houses are always so much fun to see! Each different fabric gives its house a unique personality!
ReplyDeleteSew many fun projects in the works at your house. Those houses are adorable.
ReplyDeleteHaven't you been busy! Love the little houses too.
ReplyDeleteYou are one amazing quilter! An amazing lesson for all of us: "Use what you have!" You do that very well, my friend! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteI kinda stalled on making little house blocks. I think I need to cut pieces for a bunch so I can make them as leader enders.

Always your posts are so inspiring! I need to start the Chinese coin strips! I always have a piece that’s not quite a square at the end of cutting scraps! Right now I am falling woefully behind in sewing RSC colors! Our house is so busy at the moment!
ReplyDeleteWonky Stars and Wonky Houses are winners for me. They look addictive!
ReplyDeleteI like the little houses a lot but the Wedding Ring blocks are my favourite this time - the sort of block I love to see, but could never make.
ReplyDeleteWowser! You were certainly on a roll! Good for you!!!
ReplyDeleteLove all those Little Houses blocks. I would love to hang out at that thread spools house. Lol!
I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all these wonderful blocks. So inspiring! Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeleteI just love your patience with all those blocks. Will most of these become orange quilts or do you have plans to mix colors? I always like to see what you come up with. Do you have an inspiration piece for each of these or are you just "winging" it?
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful oranges this week! Love the way you keep adding to all your collections.
ReplyDeleteI love the wonky stars.... must get my quilt finished up!
ReplyDeleteAnd those tiny houses are to die for!
So much goodness here! Single Wedding Ring (aka Georgetown Circle, aka about a gazillion other names) has always been one of my favorite blocks - yours look gorgeous in orange!
ReplyDeleteAnd those little houses are practically an Eye Spy quilt - lots of tiny fun going on in those bitty blocks!
Your consistent work with scraps is so inspiring. I was able to spend a happy glad hour on Friday making order out of my pile of small scraps. I wonder if you would share with us your thoughts on minimum, "Even I won't work with stuff this small!" sizes. I haven't learned what is realistic yet, but I keep reminding myself that I need that 1/4 inch seam allowance all the way around.
ReplyDeleteI recognize several of those prints! And the orange wedding rings look great.
ReplyDeleteWow, sure scrap happy this week, making a dent in the collection?
ReplyDeleteYou've made such good use of orange scraps, makes me want to dive back into my orange bin after only making 3 blocks!
ReplyDeleteYou are SEW amazing!!! I want to grow up to be as productive as you. :o))
ReplyDeleteYour houses are SO wonderful. Well done on so much sewing!
