And Now For Some Snakes - UFO #64 - HISSS

I just finished five Snake Trail blocks. (One is an old one from November 2015).

Getting this to flimsy stage is my OMG (One Monthly Goal) for June.
I finally decided on a layout for the Snakes that come in all colors of the rainbow.  I need to make 20 more blocks before I have enough to assemble the top - four each of red, yellow, orange, purple and blue.  I've been using 2.5 inch scraps for the snake and different browns (dirt) for the background.

My grandson who is ten now used to love to play HISSS  when he was younger.  I'm making the quilt for him and will put it in the hope chest along with the game and some pics of us playing the game. I'll gift it all to him at some later date when he's a young man.

Pattern is from Modern Quilts, Traditional Inspiration by Denyse Schmidt.

  7. It always surprises me how you can come up with such different quilt designs. This one is adorable and how you are going to gift it is even better. That hope chest must be pretty near full by now.

  8. I really like that and the story behind it is so touching. What a great memory you will be preserving. If you are going to give it to him as a young man, be sure to make it long enough. Probably a twin size. You probably know better than I do, but that was one of the comments one of my sons made to me. I usually make queen size for them and he said he preferred the size of a certain quilt I had made which was a long twin. He said it was perfect for one person to snuggle up in. They like to snuggle up with their own blanket while watching a movie.

  11. Fun design! This is the second "snakes" quilt I've seen this week--funny how some things seem to cycle. So fun that this was inspired by a game you played with your grandson!
