This is another project I've been picking up and putting down all summer. These are the latest hexies. Now I have a total of 102 so should probably decide how many I need. One of my granddaughters thinks she wants to be a veterinarian so I've been making this with her in mind using all the creature fabrics in my stash. When finished I'll put the quilt in the hope chest so I'll have it to give to her if and when she actually does start studies toward that goal.
Nice idea to make this quilt for your hope chest. One of my nieces is a vet - something's she wanted to be ever since she was 12.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful hexagons with those animal friends...lovely work hugs, Julieroe
ReplyDeleteGood theme with your fabrics. I'm so impressed you're working on hexagons and like the way you're mixing stars into them.
ReplyDeleteThese are great. They must be large Hexies because mine are 1-1/4 and I'll probably be making them FOREVER!!

Everytime I come to your blog, I see another quilt I want to make. Hexies are definitely on my list.
ReplyDeletejust adorable...
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice mix of triangles, diamonds and hexagons! I love the way all those shapes tile together and wish it was easier to join them with machine stitching. So fun in all those animal fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike! I have been working on my flamingo hexies. I'm only up to about 60 - thinking I'll need at least 100 for a decent-sized quilt/wallhanging. When I pinned them all to the design wall, I realized I needed more plain (not pieced) hexies to give break up all the fussy-cut flamingos. That should add some blocks to the pile in short order!
ReplyDeleteLove the fish prints in this batch of yours...and the octopi!
I love this more every time you show some of your blocks. So great that it's intended for someone planning to be a vet!
