Little boxes on the hillside
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes
Little boxes
Little boxes all the same
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes
Little boxes
Little boxes all the same
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same
--- Pete Seeger
Oh I do like and remember those words. They look like fun to make.
ReplyDeleteWhat adorable and fun little houses!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember that song so well!
ReplyDeleteYour little ticky tackies look pretty good to me!
Cute! It looks like a ticky tackie is a bit haunted.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
Those look they're fun to make, and anything goes!
ReplyDeleteExcellent blocks, totally understand the Ticky Tacky houses, remember the song. Now even more pertinent in the UK, too many people in certain areas, so smaller houses being built, narrower roads, less space for parking of cars, smaller driveways etc. And all so much more expensive,
ReplyDeleteI looked around your blog and you certain have made neat quilts. I think I'll follow you since you knew the words to Pete Seeger's song (or maybe you learned it from Weeds) and (thank you) I'll be singing it all night. lol

Cute little blocks and colorful, nice work.
ReplyDeleteThey are going to make a darling quilt.
ReplyDeleteNo, no, no, your houses are not ticky tacky at all. Wonderfully eclectic, although I guess a streetful of orange houses might cause a stir.

I always heard that song was about Daly City, CA. And I was just singing it the other day, ha! Your houses are adding up. Do you have a city yet, or just a village?
ReplyDeleteLove these little bitty houses! They will make a cute miniature quilt, but I thought you weren't into miniatures.
ReplyDeleteCan I move my "itty bitty house" to your neighborhood? I love it. (and yes, I do live in an itty bitty house!)
ReplyDeleteThere was a Facebook meme last week: your NPR name is a pattern and the name of a deceased singer/songwriter. I chose "Polkadot Seeger." And here you come up with Pete Seeger. Great orange houses!
ReplyDeleteOh my, we need to start calling you the Pied Piper of scraps! I’ve had a house quilt on my bucket list for awhile, and I think your orange houses just clinched it. I love them!! ... and can’t wait to see what these turn into...
ReplyDeleteFun houses!
ReplyDeletewonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, for the memories of that song and it fits perfectly with your ticky tackies which are too cute :)
ReplyDeleteThey do look similar but much more fun than the ticky tacky houses Pete sang about.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet set of little house blocks! I love them!
ReplyDeleteTicky-Tacky was Mothers comment on the housing development that popped up across the street from us when I was a kid. Now they even paint all of them the same color, with the same color roofing... how can one tell which one to pull into to get home?
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt, they are all so different.
Such sweet little houses! The orange makes them look so cozy!
ReplyDeleteI love little houses. The use up scraps and make me happy.
