Zig Zag Nine Patch
94 x 94
It's a flimsy!
It started with a bin of 3 inch nine patches and a Google search of vintage quilts. I landed on a picture of an antique Ohio Amish quilt from the Darwin D. Bearley collection and decided I would try to make one like it.
And now back to searching...I have a lot of nine patches left.
That's a really fun way to set the nine patch blocks! The solids make your eye travel up and down and around. Nice pattern! Have fun choosing your next pattern.
ReplyDeleteThat is just awesome!! Love how all the colors make *streaks*
ReplyDeleteThis flimsy is fabulous! Makes me want to dig right back into the scrap bins. One doesn't usually associate this type of design and scrappiness with Amish quilts, this is very special.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of flashes of lightning with those solids taking your eye down the quilt. A super way of using those small 9 patches. Another super finish! More of your block stashes depleted.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I'm glad you showed the last closeup because I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out how you assembled it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish! Are you sure you don't have a design wall?
ReplyDeleteLove that streak of lightning setting! What a beauty!
ReplyDeleteHave fun picking the next one - there are an infinite number of ways to set 9-patches, which makes it very hard to choose!
What a great setting! Also, a great way to use those nine patches.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, lovely, creative, fun, happy, amazing. Oh, and par for the course for you! xo
ReplyDeleteOmigosh - it is HUGE and you still have nine-patches left?!?!?!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning! I'm trying to figure out how you pieced it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a size but what a beauty of a quilt, it really is stunning.
ReplyDeleteAwesome scrappy goodness.
ReplyDeleteSuper quilt woman strikes again!
Wow! That's a huge quilt and a ton of nine-patches! Do you have any idea how many are int here? (Maybe it's better not to know.) Nine-patch quilts are one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteOh that is wonderful! You have made a beautiful quilt. So inviting for a snuggle. I am really partial to scrap quilts. There is just something special about them. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous quilt! All that intricate piecing, truly timeless.
ReplyDeleteWhat a big beautiful quilt! You are an inspiration to me!
ReplyDeleteWow! This turned out to be so much fun. I have a feeling if I attempted this design I would be getting my seam ripper out a LOT. Great job!
ReplyDeleteFantastic - and you have sparked off all sorts of ideas for me. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love this! But am struggling trying to figure out how to finish the sides and ends.
ReplyDeleteJust WOW!
