Honk if you love Flying Geese.
I'm not honking right now. I have several quilts held up because they need some Flying Geese for sashings or borders or block parts. So a couple of days ago I declared it Flying Geese Day at my house and that's the only thing I allowed myself to work on at the sewing machine.
I completed some, but not all, Flying Geese for Blind Man's Fancy sashings.
I completed the Flying Geese part of the border for White Bird.
I made some fall color/dark corners Flying Geese so I can make more block A for Fall Festival...
...and I made some fall color/light corners so I can make more block B for Fall Festival.
Enough of that.
You have quite a flock there, Cathy! What is your favorite method for making flying geese? Do you have one of thosd special rulers?
ReplyDeleteHonk, Honk!
ReplyDeleteI make mine (really small strip 2" X 9") with paper piecing.
Hugs
Gosh, what a lot of Flying Geese. So many projects being moved on all in one sewing day. Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of Flying Geese, but I'm not crazy about making them. Got any special tips or techniques for making them?
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of flying geese, and they all look great. Do you use that method where you start with a big square and two smaller square and end up with 4 geese? If not let me know and I can send you a link. cheers!
ReplyDeleteI love how they look, but I don't love making them. I think you had a very productive day!
ReplyDeleteHonk honk! Oh, and flap flap!
ReplyDeleteI used up most of my flying geese on Long Time Gone. I need to make some more for the Goose Bin.
Beep, beep. Nice looking geese. I love flying geese, especially the Wing Clipper way!
ReplyDeleteHonk, honk! Flying geese never get old.:) Yours are all coming along very well!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of flying geese! I can see why your arms are tired! I don't like making triangles either, but once I discovered the special method to make them, I don't mind them at all.
ReplyDeleteHonk! Honk! I love the look of flying geese and they are fun to make with the 4 at a time method. But I don't like the bulky seams, which you can't hand quilt through, and it's not easy to not cut off the tips after you've made the geese and are trying to sew the finished units together. But, I love the way they look in other people's quilts, especially borders.
ReplyDeleteHonk!! I love Flying Geese! And I love all your WIPs too!
ReplyDeleteNo honking here - flying geese are definitely not my thing!
ReplyDeleteHonk, honk! I think flying geese are such a staple in quilting and can be used in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. I do like flying geese blocks.
ReplyDeleteThey add movement and life to a design.
You can't beat a flying goose! What a productive day you had.
ReplyDeleteKathy....If I have 12" quilt blocks, how big should I make flying geese for sashing? I'm having trouble figuring it out...thought maybe you could help me.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
