With these four Burgoyne Surrounded blocks I now have enough to start assembling a top. I used the free pattern at Quilted Twins which calls for 25 blocks and sashing. I used scraps from my scrap chunk crate (scraps less than a FQ) to make the blocks so ended up with some wild combinations of fabrics in some blocks. The sashing calls for 3 inch nine patches and I have plenty of those already made in my "Parts Department" so will pick through there to find some to use. I think I will have to cut into some yardage for the neutral sashings but other than that...a LOT of scraps and some uglies have been used and the chunky crate is a little lighter.
And as a side note...block look familiar? This is Candy Necklace from Edyta Sitar's book Scrappy Fireworks Quilts. I think I see a use for some strings in there and I may have already started this.
You "may" have started it? LOL! Been there, done that. :D
ReplyDeleteI am keen to see how these BS blocks will all look together. I love all the fresh blues you have used!
This month's blocks look great - can't wait to see how everything looks together!
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are gorgeous! I love how all the scraps just work great together.
ReplyDeleteThat looks way above my piecing ability, but so very lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI love these BS blocks. Even better for you that you are able to use up lots of your Chunks!
ReplyDeleteThe BS blocks are very lovely and will make a great quilt. I've often admired Edyta Sitar's quilt. The strings will look great. Can't wait to see what all you come up with.
ReplyDeleteI like that Candy Necklace design - a lot.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not one kind of BS, it's another...
ReplyDeleteCandy Necklace looks great! Looking at the state of my quilt queue, I think I might be able to start it in October of 2033. November at the latest.
In the meantime, I'm still making Burgoynes. I don't have 25 yet, but considering I thought I was only in for nine when I started, there's no telling when I'll stop!
I LOVE that bottom left block. The circles in the centre are great, the gingham adds a nice texture, and the contrast between the black and the pink are super!
ReplyDeleteGreat BS blocks! Whew, 25 of them? That's a lot!
ReplyDeleteThese blocks look great!
ReplyDeleteWonderful blocks! And when they are all together like that they look so effective! Love that little 'pop' of plaid in the top R) one!
ReplyDeleteYour BS quilt is looking good. But a second one? You are really ambitious. I've always liked this block but the thought of all of that cutting has postponed the quilt for me.
ReplyDeleteYou've made some lovely blocks from the "uglies." Clearly you have a talent for BS...
ReplyDelete:)
Oh good progress with your BS blocks and I have the book by Edyta Sitar, she has some beautiful patterns!
ReplyDeleteBurgoyne Surrounded is one I've always wanted to make. So many people have put out versions of their own but I still love it.
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate that you have a large parts department to pull from.
That pattern has always intrigued me, but I've never had the nerve to try it. Yours is already looking very pretty! I'm still wondering when, or IF, you ever sleep! I doubt anyone will be able to sneak up and surround you! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteFun blocks! I love Edyta's designs--I have so many on my bucket list!!
ReplyDeleteLove the soft, almost old-fashioned look to these blocks. Your fabric choices are as always, spot on!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work! I love visiting here, so many good ideas.
ReplyDeleteYou have a way with 'uglies' you make them fit right in and
behave.
Thanks for sharing.
Love your blocks - they have a sweet, cozy look to them. How many more will you make?
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourites; I'm looking forward to seeing these blocks all together.
ReplyDeleteProbably the loveliest BS I've ever seen! These will make a great finished quilt!
