Kaleidoscope of Butterflies

This set of butterflies brings my total to 31. Now I just need to make the 10 half butterflies and I'll be ready to assemble my top.  So next month I hope to have a top to show.

In case you are wondering I have used the free Ghost Moth pattern to make these butterflies.  The quilt will measure 51 x 58.5.

I snapped a photo of this butterfly (or is it a moth?) in my asparagus patch a couple of weeks ago.  I wasn't expecting to see any moths or butterflies out and about this time of year.

Have you seen any butterflies yet?
Have you made any butterflies of fabric yet?
How about kaleidoscopes?  A group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope.
Celebrate Lepidoptera!

  2. The Ghost Moth is a great pattern, and it is nice to see their numbers growing! I maintain that I have already seen a white butterfly this spring. Asparagus! That is something I would like to grow too. Must look into that. :D

  3. Your butterfly blocks are reproducing very well! They must have a word with the monarchs.

  4. Your Kaliedescope is the best butterfly quilt I think I've seen. The Ghost Moth pattern allows you to use a,good amount of beautiful, fabrics to show them off. Also your background is a great choice, looks like they are fluttering in a garden. Keep up the good work!

  5. blocks are coming along well must check out the pattern. I made a quilt with quilted butterflies for my daughter and also had some butterfly fabric in it too but not done patchwork butterflies yet. I saw my first butterfly last week in the garden hope it means warmer weather is on the way

  6. I've sadly neglected my kaleidoscopes for April... I'll have to do better in May.
I love your ghost moth butterflies! Looking forward to the quilt!

  7. Thanks for the link to the ghost moth pattern. One of these days, I'll get to it. I've seen a cabbage moth (I think it's a moth, not a butterfly) and there's a cocoon hanging off the edge of the garage. It's a little to cold yet for most of the butterflies and I haven't seen a monarch here in two years even though I let the milkweed invade my gardens. So sad.

  8. What a lovely design for spring. I like these soft butterflies on the large scale floral print. Must get busy myself.
