This year as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I chose a UFO to work on as one of my projects. In this case I'm working on Floribunda (aka Jacob's Ladder) nine inch blocks. I actually don't use scraps to make these but as you scroll down through this blog post you will see how I use the resulting 3.5 inch scraps left from making these blocks. In a later blog post this month you will see how I use some of the resulting 2 inch scraps.
Making a few of these blocks in the RSC color of the month has helped me move this UFO forward. I now have 62 of the necessary 81 and do not get bored making a bunch of them all at one time.
One of the blocks I'm making from the 3.5 inch scraps is Glitter (from Jen Kingwell's book Quilt Lovely). Gayle (Mangofeet blog) is also making these blocks and has a nifty way to make templates and cut pieces from a 3.5 x 4.25 scrap.
Also from 3.5 inch scraps I made a few six inch bow tie blocks...
And then I made a few more.
And I made a few 3 inch Snowball blocks with muslin corners.

Your WIPS are all coming along so well--I like those little snowballs...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteYou've made a lot of blocks this week. Great work with making all these amazing blocks. Love them!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the Floribunda quilt! Your blocks for it are pretty with the variety of yellow backgrounds. I'm also partial to bow tie blocks right now, and I have you to blame for that! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, you had a monumental week! I really like your Jacobs Ladder blocks. The Glitter blocks are great, but you and Gayle are light years beyond many of us! I'll just watch and enjoy. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGlitter glitter glitter! (I love your glitters!)
ReplyDeleteYour Floribunda is going to be beautiful! I've got that one on my list, too, but I can put it off since you've already tempted me with Burgoyne Surrounded - and Jack's Chain isn't going to be too far behind.
And I know you're going to have bigtime fun with your snowballs and bowties, too. You're an inspiration!
Looks like you've been busy, lots of lovely green blocks and projects. The RSC helps me to finish up projects as well, and I'm really trying to work on finishing right now.
ReplyDeleteI am using the color prompts to work on several different things this year - not so much new projects as things that were already underway. I really need to sit down and start QUILTING instead of playing with my scrappy piecing.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy with green even though not all scraps. I have been tempted to make Floribunda. Great job.
ReplyDeleteAs always, amazed at what you accomplish with your scraps in such a short time. I have been using some of your ideas today, creating some Happy Blocks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a productive week you had!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a lot! Beautiful blocks as usual, great variety of greens. Well done!!
ReplyDeleteLovely scraps and lovely projects!
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty green blocks. Busy week at the sewing machine!
ReplyDeleteWow so many blocks in green done. I sure love the glitter blocks.
