Although the instructions call for making "strip sets" I opted to use little scraps instead and sew them all together one at a time. It may take awhile to get enough blocks especially since I also have another completely different postage stamp quilt in the works but who is in a rush? (Answer: not me.)
As of now I have 13 of the 20 blocks with 4 sets of 36 patches completed. That's 1772 little 1.5 pieces of fabric if my multiplication with paper and pen is correct but who is counting? (Answer: Evidently I am).
42-Cents Forever Stamps
From the book:
Love those blocks, Cathy. I have a picture in my head of you feeding all those small squares through your sewing machine. And keeping the little grey cells going with the multiplication exercise.

I love your postage stamps! And your diligence!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt design caught my eye the first time I saw that book, and I've been dreaming of it ever since. Hmmm... I always keep 1.5" squares at hand for leader/enders, and I even have several yards of a pink fabric... Hmmm...
Great progress! I like that book and pattern too.
ReplyDeletePink and its friends are cheerful and work well with others.
Colors have personality don't they?
Love your dedication! I too like scrap quilts and I too do not make strip sets. I find pleasure in the simple sewing required and the unexpected color combinations that happen with little squares. I love, but cannot commit to 1 1/2 squares. Two and a half are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteAlthough.....there is one I've been looking at that would look best in 1 1/2. LOL!
Love that you are using up the tiniest of scraps instead of strip sets. Yes, it takes much longer, but well worth it in the end. Enjoy the process -- and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWOW! There's a few miles of sewing in that quilt! Love it, so full of color!
ReplyDeleteAt first glance, I thought you surely must be out of your mind! (That came from memories of my last large quilt with lots of little pieces.) Then when I scrolled down and saw the book picture, I found myself thinking I might want to make that quilt too! I had never seen that pattern before. I'll be looking forward to seeing your flimsy finished. ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteWow--you are really making progress! I'm amazed that you aren't doing them with strip sets--they must be very time consuming, but at least you are burning up the scraps!
ReplyDeleteI really love this pattern
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS! Your pink sashing is just a perfect touch.:)
