Twinklers: It's a Top! and an OMG!

Twinklers
60 x 78

I've been making these blocks, a few a month, for a couple of years as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge Project.  I used 2.5 inch scraps.  That's 1170 - 2.5 inch squares of scraps!!!

These were randomly arranged. There's no design wall here.  (Grandma didn't have one either and she's the one that inspired me to quilt).

In the process I noticed I was a little heavy on blue and brown blocks.

I hope to get this completely finished this month. I'll be quilting it on my DSM.

  1. I love this top, so bright and cheerful. Design walls are great, but most are nowhere near large enough to lay out a big quilt anyway. Grandma used her bed or the floor to lay out her quilts, and we can too!

  7. What a happy quilt! Enjoy your twinkly quilting!
This is one of the things I love most about the rainbow scrap challenge - we make a few blocks a month and then suddenly there are enough for a quilt. It's almost like magic!

  8. Another stellar (pun intended) finish! You go girl!, I love your Twinkler/friendship stars. And your wonderful Triangle Stars too. Next year I'll be doing a friendship star variation with my 2.5" scraps thanks to your influence. Cathy, do you ever sleep?

  9. I am amazed at at how much you get done. I do well with the rainbow blocks until the garden work begins, but then I do make a lot of smaller quilts for our teams from church to take to Haiti.

  24. I find it interesting that you can place your blocks randomly but come up with something that looks so balanced and deliberate. Maybe it's a question of getting the right mix of blocks before you start? However you do it, the end result is very lovely.
