Dresdens
about 91 x 91
is a top now and
hopefully it will grow up to be a quilt
someday.
It's been a VERY rough (very seriously rough and very seriously depressing) week so in my very few spare moments I have turned to sewing to keep me somewhat calm and sane. I don't blog to whine so won't bore you with the details of last week's events. Tomorrow starts a new week.
I made these blocks in 2015 as one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) projects. If I remember correctly each month I made 4 blocks - a block in the color of the month, color of the month plus it's complement, color of the month plus white and black, color of the month plus black and white. Each block was appliqued to a gray background, had a polka dot center surrounded by gray rick-rack.
Now I just have to whip up a backing and decide how to quilt it. I was thinking of hand quilting but now I'm undecided. Time will tell.
It's a beautiful quilt top!! Hope your next week is better. ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteSorry it wasn't such a wonderful week! But your top is very colorful and gay and I say that even though I'm not fond of gray fabric. I hope this coming week is happier for you!
ReplyDeleteYour dresdens are just beautiful! I love seeing all the different color combinations you made. I'm sorry to hear you had such a rough last week. I (as I'm sure all of your quilting community is) am sending positive thoughts your way! I agree that sewing helps in the crazy times! Thank goodness for that!
ReplyDeleteWow, Cathy, the Dresdens turned out beautifully! Was this a Finish-Along goal?
ReplyDeleteYour dresdens are beautiful - we have been having a couple of rough weeks here in our family - actually going on a month now so totally understand! Hope next week will be better for you
ReplyDeleteLovely dresden top. Colors are wonderful. You are one that gets stuff done and enjoy all that you show.
ReplyDeleteYour top is amazing! I'm sorry it's been needed to distract you from a lousy week.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is utterly fantastic. And I agree with the other comment about the grey -- not my favourite, but sure looks good here! I must bookmark this one. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear it's been such a tough week. Sending you good wishes!
Hooray for finishes, and for tough weeks to be finished too. I hope next week (or the next day, or the next hour) is/are better for you. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteHoping your weeks get better.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing these blocks every month, and they're gorgeous put together! I'd hand quilt, but that's usually my vote on a beautiful quilt. Whatever you choose, it's going to be gorgeous!
Sending you a hug. That's a beautiful top. The grey looks awesome. I usually use black, but after seeing yours, I'm inspired to use grey in a quilt.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful work! I'm sorry to hear you had a rough week, bless you.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely quilt top. Beautiful colours. Hope things improve for,you next week xxxx

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your bad week. Some weeks are like that, but it sounds like this was much worse than some weeks. I hope things are improving/have improved. Your quilts i very fun!
ReplyDeleteA well deserved finish on such a gorgeous quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun watching the Dresdens appear each month in 2015! What a wonderful quilt you have made with them!! Glad your stitching made for good therapy this week - sending good vibes for you and your family this coming week.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that you put a rainbow Dresden in the center!! The riot of color plays well off the sea of gray background. Good luck with the quilting... when the time is right for this top to transform into a quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you have had a terrible week. Your quilt is lovely and I hope that it goes someway towards making you feel better. You have inspired me to make a dresden quilt out of my scraps. I love dresdens, but only made pieced wedges before, which is silly, this looks fantastic! Especially love the rick rack.
ReplyDeleteSending all manner of hugs ... Beautiful quilt top!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you had a bad week. Yes, sewing will help lift your mood and soothe your spirit. I hope next week will be better.
ReplyDeleteLove your Dresdens! And what an interesting, clever setting!
Another scrappy beauty. How do you do it, Cathy?
ReplyDeleteI pray that this week will be better for you and those you love.
This is just so beautiful - I hope it grows up to be a quilt one day soon too! Hope this week is better!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I have a real soft spot for Dresdens. There might be more of them in my future just from looking at yours!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I just can't get over how many colorful quilts you produce! :)
ReplyDeleteQUilting does save our sanity for sure... hope this week is better!
ReplyDeleteAnd if not, you have this fabulous quilt top to cheer you up!
