No, I'm Not Going to Waste Waste Triangles

It's time to clean off part of my sewing desk so....
1.  I cut some 2.5 inch red squares
2. gathered up some waste triangles from the edge of my desk and sewed them to the corners of some of those red squares
3. ironed
4. trimmed even with the background red squares (no I didn't cut off the background because that would then make another waste triangle for the corner of my desk and we are trying to avoid that)
5. sew them together along with some red 2.5 inch squares without triangles into the Ocean Waves configuration for a large 16 inch block.

6. Repeat
7. Admire your work on Ocean   Confetti Waves and wonder how big a quilt you will make.

Then cut some 2.5 inch blue squares  and attach waste triangles as you see above for some little butterflies or, if set on point I suppose they could be little bow ties.  I like butterflies.  I don't like to waste.  Waste not, want not.  Ok, I have to admit there are still a few things I want.

Since these blocks used up my smallest of scraps and since it is Scraptastic Tuesday I will be linking up for Scraptastic Tuesday.

  2. Yay! What cute little triangles. And I love 'Confetti Waves'!
(And butterflies, of course. Always love sweet little butterflies.)

  3. Very nice. I like to use the waste triangles too, and since they are waste, there is no pressure so you can play and enjoy trying different things. And you can feel good that you were able to make treasure out of trash. I like all the blocks, both the red and the blue.

  4. Gee, I thought I was the only one. Not only do I use up every last "waste triangle" of my own, but my quilting friends give me theirs as well! My motto is, "No scrap shall be left behind!"

Love what you did with all of yours!

  5. What a great way to use up those stray triangles. I always end up with a few leftovers and nothing to do with them. Nice idea.

  6. You are a genius and thanks so much for the tip. I have always hated throwing out those tiny triangles...never again.

  7. Ooh, love these little triangles. I've just got Gwen Marston's book "Trianlge Quilts" and these would be right at home in there. I especially love the red background.

  8. The red is great, it really makes those triangles pop!

  10. So, I'm curious. Did you trim out the red and blue triangles behind the confetti triangles to reduce bulk thus producing more waste triangles? Inquiring minds want to know!
