Before I forget how I wanted to use some of the butterfly fabrics I've collected over the years I decided I had better make a block to see if I liked it. I do.
I've finished a couple of quilts so allowed myself to start a new one.
This block is called Follow the Sun and is from Kathy Doughty's book Adding Layers - Color, Design and Imagination. This block is BIG and takes up all of my makeshift Design Wall - my cutting mat propped against the wall and covered with leftover batting.
To see what's on other design walls makeshift or otherwise visit Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times.
I won't call my quilt Follow the Sun. I'll call it Follow that Butterfly.
Oh this is cool! I love butterflies and the title you have chosen (and my kids will tell you stories of me charging off across the French countryside after them). This is going to be just my sort of quilt.
ReplyDeleteOh, very nice... I love the knock-you-on-your-butt colorplay! And with butterflies? Oh, yeah.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a pretty block! I've always like butterflies, but I love them even more now that I teach 1st grade. We have a science unit on insects, and we get 6 live caterpillars in the early spring. We get to watch them go through most of their life cycle. It's always so awe-inspiring to see the butterflies emerge from their chrysalises!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this block! Looking forward to more!
ReplyDeleteOh I am following your butterfly!!!
ReplyDeleteI am like you - love the brightness!!! There is no such thing as too bright. Looking forward to the next one.

Gorgeous block... love it!
ReplyDeletePerfect name and beautiful block! It looks perfect in that floral garden. What a great idea for those fabrics.
