Green

Last year during the Rainbow Scrap Challenge when the color was green I found a lot of chunky scraps (at least 4.5 inch strip) and started making these Dandy Quilt blocks.   I wanted to make a large quilt with 56 blocks.   These 12 are the last of the 56 for what I call 56 Shades of Envy.

I was going to quilt it on my DSM but now I'm thinking I might hand quilt.

It's time again this year for green.  We are supposed to use dark green scraps- light green will be the color for another month.   But I have so many different RSC projects going that I'm just going to use all green scraps and just make a few of the projects this month and a few of the projects in the next green month.

That leaves me with two Wonky Log Cabin blocks  - well, actually 8 blocks sewn into two eighteen inch blocks...

...and four 8 inch string blocks on a paper foundation.  Some of those strings were so skinny I should have thrown them in the mulch pile.

Got scraps?
Join us each ScrapHappy Saturday and show us what you've done with them.

  1. That's a lot of green! I have a pretty big stack of greens, and I'm thinking of log cabin blocks, too. Which means I'll also be using lights and darks. Good idea to use some now, and more greens of any shade for the next green month.

  5. Great blocks! I've started tossing strings less than an inch wide. And I'm using all my shades of green this month. I'll have enough green scraps to play two months.

  6. The log cabin blocks have lots of personality, and the string blocks are nice with the bits of light blue for sparkle.

  12. I know the Dandy blocks were from last year, but you still got a lot of green sewn for this only being a couple days into the month! I've been working with the greens outdoors, planting flowerpots, setting up the patio furniture and such. Tomorrow is sewing, all day. Except when we go out to dinner dor DH's birthday. Life is good!
