I've been big stitch hand quilting a very wild and colorful sampler top with perle #8.
This is the back and is actually a very dark green fabric but the flash kind of washes it out. I wanted a darker fabric so the stitching would show up on the back.
Here's the top I'm working on. It was a sampler of all of last year's Block Lotto blocks designed by Sophie who runs Block Lotto. I used complementary colors in all of my blocks. It's a large 80 x 80 quilt.
Doing any hand stitching?

I love your tin with all those gorgeous threads on top of the vivid blocks... It makes me want to try this on a smaller piece. Do you use a different batting for hand quilting?
ReplyDeleteLove all the colors and stitching. I have not quilted with perle #8.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite sort of quilting! And I love your top; it looks great.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love your use of colour. What a happy quilt.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible how you got all of those crazy rock star blocks to play so well together. Hard to believe all of your close-ups are in one quilt...until you see it.
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of those little balls of thread that I inherited. Now I know what to do with them. I never thought to use them for my quilting. Love your quilt.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing and beautiful! Just my sort of quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of big stitching also.I think I may have a bug as the day progressed I started feeling worse and worse. Just aching and chills sure hope it doesn't get worse. So no stitching for me today!
ReplyDeleteThat big stitching is looking fabulous! Great choice in the backing--it really shows the stitching well.:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous quilt and the big stitching is just perfect for it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cheerful sampler. You made great choices all the way along: fabrics, backing and large stitch with perle. Congratulations.
