For the next month of Sundays and evenings I will probably be adding some embroidery to dishtowels.
At Christmas I like to give everyone in this large extended family sets consisting of a crocheted dishcloth, ( I made four of these while on last month's camping trip but finished other last night and wove in ends on all) dishtowel, and potholder. Maybe this year I'll add a microwave bowl or bread cloth or placemats...who knows. And sometimes I give the crocheted cloths along with a specialty soap. My husband is retired (not me) so he's in charge of washing up the pots and pans and he loves these crocheted dish cloths (or at least he says he does and doesn't use anything else).
And, if there is any time left in the day today (I just finished pickling beets and made a blackberry cobbler- both made with our own homegrown produce) then I might hand sew the binding down on my August goal for a Lovely Year of Finishes.
What, you ask, are others Slow Sunday Stitching? Visit Kathy's Quilts and see.
Enjoy your hand stitching today! Amazing that you are already stitching down the binding on your August UFO! Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteI have a question, Cathy. I see that you sew right over the end on the binding. Does that work to make a mitered corner? It would be a lot easier than stopping on the 1/4" mark.
ReplyDeleteLove the twin quilts - very cheery.
Hugs
Looks like your hands haven't been idle. Hope you get to do some stitching on your binding today.
ReplyDeleteOh wow Cathy, your embroidery looks gorgeous! I love love embroidery. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece... So sweet of you to make your own handmade crocheted gifts for everyone.
ReplyDeleteComing over from Kathy's.
Hugs, Wendy
