Blue 2.5 Inch Scrap Edition

I dug into my blue 2.5 inch scraps this week and I sure had to make a lot of HSTs.
Last year I made these ten inch (Crazy) Lady of the Lake blocks.  I have about half of what I need for a BIG quilt so they are on my to-do list again this year as an Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) project.    I found a baggie of six inch  half HST pieces leftover from making basket blocks several years ago so used some of them for the centers as well as some chunk pieces.

I don't know how many years I've been making these eight inch Depression Blocks but I have about 66 of them if I can believe my note in the bag with them.  Ok...so these get carried over again this year too.   I limit myself to actual scraps so how many I make depends on my scraps.  But I like BIG quilts so it still make take several years to have enough blocks.  And I'm okay with that.

And finally I made some Sprouts. Somehow I forgot I had these in the works and skipped over them last year but what was lost has now been found and they are back in the scrap rotation. However many I end up with after this year is how many will be in the quilt, I think. I'm not going to count but just surprise myself at the end of the year.  I'm just going to go where the scraps take me.

And where are the scraps taking everyone else?

I like the idea of working without counting - but my brain has other ideas. I have trouble resisting the urge to tally every so often. Happy that the sprouts have returned.

I'd love to see your storage system -- you keep pulling rabbits out of your hat!

You've done really well at finding homes for all your blue scraps. Very pretty blocks.

I enjoy seeing all of your block projects! I had forgotten that I want to try the scrappy sprouts blocks until I saw yours. They offer lots of fun possibilities for a quilt!

I love those Crazy Ladies SOOOOO much!! I may end up having to copy you again...
And I'm going to enjoy watching your sprouts grow. That's another block on my 'someday' list.
(I try not to count my RSC blocks, either. It's much better to be surprised!)

I went on a kick of buying fabric and since the first of the year decided enough was enough. I dug out 4-patches and 9-patches that just need to be in quilts. I have a tendency to sew a lot of those when I am bored. They come in handy. Looks like you are on the right track. Chris

You have so many amazing scraps, so letting them take you along means you get to go so many great “places”. Glad to see sprouts and depression blocks back. As always, you are inspirational!

It's amazing to me how you have so much variety for any given color! So many of these blues are very similar in hue, yet there are dozens of different fabrics. Your scraps are like the Library of Congress of fabric!

I'm always a fan of when you mix contrasting colors. Such a great way to mix it up during the rainbow challenge.
