Has Anyone Seen The Elusive Quilt Back Bird? She Left Me Some Feathers!

A Flimsy of Feathers
Not a quilt yet. Just a top.
72 x 90

I was looking for something different for string scraps and this fit the bill. I used the long pieces trimmed from quilt backings for the feathers.

I don't normally buy a lot of yardage when I buy fabrics but I've had this feather fabric for awhile.  I think it was on the table at Hancock's when they marked all the Spot the Bolt fabrics down to $3.98 per yard. Plus I think it was senior day so I got a 25% discount off of that.  I thought it was pretty ugly when I bought it and I thought if nothing else I would use it on the back of quilts.   I like it now.

So, have you seen the elusive Quilt Back bird? I think that wild and crazy bird left me with some feathers.

That background is almost too good to be true for this quilt! It really pops. We're not so crazy having our stash and holding some pieces for a while until the right use comes along. Really love it!

What fun to mix large feathers with a feather print. The cheddar background is perfect for setting all of them off. Congratulations.

Love those leftover feathers--we often find gull feathers on our beach when we walk--but none so colorful as these--they must be from So. America and just moving South for the Winter....our cedars are full to brimming with blue berries and the birds are feasting like crazee; flocks settle in and chitter-chatter for a day and then--poof--gone on their way...very pretty flimsy (green with envy!!) hugs, Julierose

Quite striking. But don't leave it in your backyard too long or it may give a cat ideas.

Oh wonderful!! I must visit the site and download, I would love to make one like this. Your colours are gorgeous and bright and the feather fabric couldn't be bettered! This really is a lovely quilt.

That background fabric really sets off those bright blue feathers. I think every fabric will eventually find its home. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap! I too might have to give this pattern a try.

I love how the feathers play on the background you chose. Thanks for sharing the link to the pattern.
